虚词不能裸奔——升级为介词短语，才能扮演角色

at 什么都不是——介词是虚词，必须升级为介词短语才能扮演角色。

同一个 from，三种宾语——词、短语、从句——都是同一个介词。

near有5种词性，in/on/before各有2种

in 未必是介词——同一个词，多张脸。词性判断错了，意思全错。

这就是为什么你不能"背意思"——你要先判断词性，再判断意思。词性判断错了，全句理解就错了。

介词短语能干嘛？

3种角色——扮演表语、扮演状语、扮演后置定语

介词短语只有3条路：扮演表语（主角）、扮演状语（配角）、扮演后置定语（配角）——没有第四条。

角色一·扮演表语（主角）

He is in the river.

他在河里。——介词短语直接作"他是…"的内容

角色二·扮演状语（配角）

Because of him, we can finally get it.

因为他，我们终于拿到了。——介词短语限定动词 can get

角色三·扮演后置定语（配角）

a pen of him

他的一支笔。——介词短语放在名词后面限定它

状语 vs 后置定语：位置不同，功能不同

状语 — 限定动词或整句（"在什么时间、以什么方式、因为什么"）
后置定语 — 限定名词（"谁的、什么样的"）

同一个介词短语，位置一变，角色就变：
a book on the table = 桌上的那本书 → 后置定语
He put it on the table = 他把它放在桌子上 → 状语

① 关系类——besides ≠ except

apart from = 有时包括、有时排除——上下文决定

besides = 包括在内（加了），except = 排除在外（减了）。记混了就全反了。

5个子类

① 所有关系 — of（…的）
② 包含关系 — including, besides, inclusive of（包括在内）
③ 排除关系 — except, but, apart from, other than（排除在外）
④ 关于 — about, on, in relation to, as for
⑤ 与……相关 — concerning, regarding

打假教学：but = "但是"？

✗ 假："but 就是'但是'——连词嘛"

✓ 真："but 作介词 = '除了' → He found nothing but this book. 除了这本书，什么也没找到。"

选择题：选正确的排除关系介词。

A. Everyone came besides Tom.（Tom也来了）

B. Everyone came except Tom.（Tom没来）

② 目的 + ③ 原因

for = 为了；because of = 因为——一个指向前，一个看向后

in case = 可作介词也可作连词——作介词时后面不跟从句。

目的类

for — 为……（最常用）
with the aim of — 以……为目标（正式）
in case of — 以防（万一）

I did it for him. 我为他做的
We work with the aim of helping students. 我们工作以帮助学生为目标

原因类

because of — 因为（最常用）
due to / owing to — 由于（正式，常放句末）
thanks to — 多亏了（带感激）
by virtue of — 凭……的优势（强调凭借某种优势）

The game was cancelled due to rain. 比赛因雨取消
Thanks to his help, we made it. 多亏他的帮助，我们成功了
By virtue of his position, he has access. 凭他的职位，他有权限

⚠️

目的 = 指向前方的目标（"为了什么"）。原因 = 看向后方的起因（"因为什么"）。但在实际使用中，for 有时同时承载两个意思。

判断："We stayed home for the rain." → for 表目的还是表原因？

A. 目的（为了雨而待在家）

B. 原因（因为下雨待在家）

④ 条件 + ⑥ 让步

but for 触发虚拟语气；despite 后面不接句子

but for = "要不是"——别以为它跟 but 有关，它跟 without 才是一伙的。

条件类（假设一个前提）

in case of — 万一……（预防性条件）
with — 如果有……
without — 如果没有……
but for — 要不是……（常触发虚拟语气）

But for his help, I would have failed. 要不是他的帮助，我就失败了。
Call me in case of emergency. 万一有紧急情况，给我打电话。

让步类（"虽然……但是……"）

despite — 尽管
in spite of — 不顾、尽管（与 despite 完全等同）
irrespective of — 不论（正式）
regardless of — 不管、不顾
notwithstanding — 尽管（正式，可作副词放句首）

Despite the rain, we went out. 尽管下雨，我们还是出去了
Anyone can join, regardless of age. 任何人都可以参加，不管年龄

⚠️

条件 = "如果X发生，那么Y"。让步 = "虽然X发生，但是Y仍然"。
两者都表达对立关系，但方向相反——条件指向假设，让步指向现实。

with 表伴随时B附属A；and 表并列时A、B平等

"A with B" = B 是跟班；"A and B" = 两人平起平坐。

伴随：with / without

He went with his father. 他跟他父亲一起——父亲是跟班
He and his father went. 他和他父亲一起——两人平等
He went without his father. 他没带他父亲

according to / in accordance with — 根据（规定、法律）
by / by means of — 通过……的方式

⑧ 空间·静态——in 还是 at？

大地方用 in，小地方用 at——但这不是死规则

"in this respect" 没有门没有墙——空间介词可以是虚拟的。

上下关系

on / upon — 在……上面（接触）
over — 在……正上方（不接触，覆盖）
above — 在……上方（高于，不一定是正上方）
at the top of — 在……顶部

beneath / underneath — 在……正下方（接触或不接触）
under — 在……下方
below — 在……以下（低于某个水平线）
at the bottom of — 在……底部

前后关系

before / in front of — 在……前面
in the front of — 在……前部（内部的前部）
behind / after / from behind — 在……后面
at the back of — 在……后部（内部的后部）

左右 + 方位

on the left / on the right
in the east of — 在……内部（山东在中国的东部）
on the east of — 接壤（朝鲜在中国的东面）
to the east of — 不接壤（日本在中国的东面）

内外 + 之间 + 远近

in / inside / at the center of
between — 两者之间；among — 三者及以上之间
next to（紧挨着）→ by = beside（旁边）→ near = close to（附近）→ in the distance of（远处）
around（在……四周）opposite（在……对面）

⚠️

between ≠ among：between 用于两者之间，among 用于三者及以上。但现代英语中 between 也可用于三者（强调两两之间的关系）。

⑧ 空间·动态——穿过、越过、朝着、沿着

towards = 朝那个方向；through = 从中穿过

v ia 不是 via，v ia = 路过、经由——你可能一直在读错。

关键区分：over vs above / into vs in

over = 越过（动态） + 在正上方（静态）
above = 仅在……上方（静态）

into = 进入（动态过程）：He walked into the room.
in = 在……里面（静态位置）：He is in the room.

⑨ 时间类——by vs before

by 是截止线，before 是之前——by = "不晚于" + "影响持续到"

by 是截止线，before 是之前——一条时间轴画清楚。

at — 精确时刻（at 8:00, at noon）
in — 时间段（in July, in 2026）
on — 具体日子（on Monday, on July 5th）
before / after — 在……之前/之后
during — 在……期间
since — 自从（从过去到现在）
by — 截止到（强调时间点的影响）

⚠️

by 不只是"在……之前"——它还强调"在截止时间点之前，结果已经产生"。所以 by 常和完成时一起出现。

（ago 是副词，不是介词！
从"现在"往回数三天。）

before 1999 → 1999年以前
（before + 时间点——介词用法）

将来

in 3 days → 三天后
（in + 时间段，从现在往后数。
必须用将来时。）

✗ I'll come back after 3 days.

✓ I'll come back in 3 days.

after + 时间段 只能用于过去叙事：He returned after 3 days.（三天后他回来了。）
after + 时间点 可以用于将来：I'll call you after 5 o'clock.

⑦ 程度 + ⑩ 结果 —— 总结回顾

程度 = 大约、过于；结果 = 最终、结果是

介词不是用来背的，是用来归类的。10类、3种角色、3种宾语——记住这三个数字，就记住了全部。

⑦ 程度类

about — 大约（about ten people = 大约十个人）
to excess — 过度地（drink to excess = 饮酒过量）
to the extent of — 达到……的程度

There were about fifty people. 大约有五十人

⑩ 结果类

in the end — 最终（强调过程之后的结果）
at last — 终于（强调等待后的释放感）
as a result of — 作为……的结果

In the end, we agreed. 最终，我们达成了一致
At last, the bus came. 终于，公交车来了
He lost his job as a result of the merger. 他因合并而失业

⚠️

in the end ≠ at last：in the end = 最终结果（就事论事）；at last = 终于（带感情，等很久了）。
两者不是同义词，语气完全不同。
