问一：主语是单数还是复数？

主语决定谓语形式——单数→动词+s/es，复数→原形。关键：哪些主语"看起来像复数其实是单数"？

主谓一致的本质 = 主语的数量。 单数主语 → 谓语用单数（-s/-es）；复数主语 → 谓语用原形。核心难点只在一个地方：哪些主语"看着像复数，其实是单数"？

两问入口 · 先记住第一步

拿到一个主谓一致的题，先别管任何规则，问自己两个问题：

① 主语是单数还是复数？ ② 谓语该认准哪一个主语？

答得上来 → 直接用
答不上来 → 往下看，下面五种情形就是"答不上来"的原因

情形一 · and 连接 — 多数复数，但有一个例外

规则：A and B → 复数。

Tom and Jimmy are brothers.

汤姆和吉米是兄弟。

例外：the A and B（只有一个 the，指同一人/物） → 单数。

The teacher and lawyer is coming.

那位教师兼律师来了。（一人身兼两职）

The teacher and the lawyer are coming.

那位教师和那位律师来了。（两个人，各有一个 the）

判断口诀：有没有第二个 the？有 → 复数；没有 → 看意思（一人兼两职 → 单数）。

情形二 · "看着是复数，实为单数"的三类词

every / each + N	Every boy and every girl likes ice cream.	every/each 限定的是"每一个个体"，不是整体

情形三 · 集体名词 — 看你是把"它"当整体还是成员

family / team / class / audience	My family is big. （家庭这个整体很大）	My family are all doctors. （家人每个都是医生）

判断口诀：强调"一个整体"→ 单数；强调"里面的每个人"→ 复数。

情形四 · the + 形容词 — 表一类人 → 复数

The young are full of energy.

年轻人充满活力。（the young = 年轻人这一类人 → 复数）

问二：谓语该认准哪个主语？

当主语被"插入词"或"连接词"干扰时，跳过干扰，找到真正的主语

主语被"藏"起来了——谓语不要认错人。 有些词会插在主语后面"冒充主语"——跳过去，别被它骗。有些连接词要让谓语"认近"的那个——谁离得近就听谁的。

情况A · 就远原则 — 插入词后面的不算数

规则：主语后面跟了 with / as well as / along with / together with / besides / except / but 这些插入词时，谓语跟着前面的真主语走，不理后面的名词。

插入词	例句
with	Tom with his three dogs is walking. （真主语 = Tom → 单数，with 后面的是陪衬）
as well as	Real Madrid players, as well as coach Mourinho, are at the airport. （真主语 = players → 复数，as well as 后面的不算）
except / but	No one except his parents knows the truth. （真主语 = No one → 单数，except 后面的排除掉）
besides	John, besides his sisters, plays the piano. （真主语 = John → 单数，besides = 除……之外还有）

口诀：with、except、besides——后面的都是"蹭热度"的，谓语只认前面的。

注意

原图中 "A beside B" 是拼写错误。beside = 在旁边（介词，不用于此结构）；此处应为 besides = 除……之外（还有）。两者意思完全不同。

情况B · 就近原则 — 谓语认"近"的那一个

规则：以下两对连接词，谓语跟着离谓语最近的那个主语走——不是跟着"A"，也不是跟着"A 和 B 一起"，而是跟着最后出现的那个。

连接词	意思	例句
either...or...	要么A，要么B （二选一，不是"都是"）	Either my dogs or my cat eats fish. （猫是单数 → eats） Either my cat or my dogs eat fish. （狗是复数 → eat）
neither...nor...	A和B都不	Neither those boys nor that girl is happy. Neither that girl nor those boys are happy.
not only...but also...	不仅A，而且B	Not only the policemen but also his wife is looking for him. Not only his wife but also the policemen are looking for him.

口诀：either...or、neither...nor、not only...but also——谁离谓语近，谓语就听谁的。

常见错误：把 either...or 当成"都"

either...or = 二选一，原图中"Either A or B 都是"是错误翻译。正确的是："要么 A，要么 B"（不是 A 和 B 一起）。

拿到任何一个主谓一致题，问一→问二→出答案。三步走，不走错。

两问流水线：问一、问二、出答案。 问一回答不了 → 跳到问二。问二解决不了 → 回到问一。任何时候两个问题轮流用，总有一个能给出答案。

走读示例：拆两道题

题1

The team ____ divided in their opinions.

问一：主语 the team 是单数还是复数？—— 集体名词，看意思。"divided in their opinions"说明成员意见不一致 → 当成员看 → 复数。

问二：有没有插入词或连接词干扰？—— 没有。直接认准 the team。

答案：are

题2

The coach, together with his players, ____ arriving soon.

问一：主语是谁？有个逗号隔开的 together with...—— 这是插入词！先跳过。

问二：真主语 = The coach → 单数。together with his players 是陪衬，不理。

答案：is

主谓一致 = 问一 × 问二。 问一管"主语是几"——单 → -s/-es，复 → 原形。问二管"认谁"——插入词跳过，就近词听近的。

三条终极口诀

易混点1：many a + 单数名词 = 单数动词

Many a students are... ❌

many a 后面跟的是单数名词，谓语也用单数：Many a student has passed the exam.

易混点2：500 dollars = 单数（一个整体数量）

时间 / 金钱 / 距离当作一个整体概念处理，谓语用单数：
500 dollars is enough. ✅
Ten years is a long time. ✅

易混点3："先行词一致"不是主谓一致的基础规则

one of the men who were... （men 是复数 → were）
the only one of the men who is... （one 是单数 → is）

这是定语从句的内容，不是主谓一致的核心。如果你还没学定从，先不要纠缠这个点。等学了定从，再回来看就是"从句动词听先行词"——和其他从句一致原则没区别。
